We were travelling in southwestern Ontario last week, visiting family and friends. One of my stops was at my friend Gail’s home south of London. She organized her second annual (I hope!) fabric party for a group of fellow quilters, and I was there to supply the fabric and enjoy the show and tell. Gail took lots of pictures — you can see them here on her blog. I had a lovely time, and donated a percentage of sales to provide flannel backing for the Elgin Piecemakers’ charity quilts.
The highlight of the evening for me was this beautiful sewing bench that Gail surprised me with. The last time she was in Ottawa I had gifted her with selvedges that I had been saving. I knew that Gail would use them, and I was quite sure that it would be a long time before I got around to it. Little did I know that she would turn them into such a beautiful and useful gift for me. I was truly touched!
This is the only bit of sewing I have to show for the month of August. It is for the Simply Solids Bee — Patti’s Rolling Stone block. The colours in the photo are a bit washed out, but I used Coral, Chinese Red, Cardinal, Chocolate and Chartreuse along with the Putty that Patti sent.
The winner of Modern Quilts, Traditional Inspirations drawn at random from last week’s giveaway is #14 … Emily V. Thanks to all who participated.
I’ll be back to more regular blog posts after Labour Day. In the meantime, enjoy the last long weekend of the summer!
