Wildabon Hand Appliqué


Working from Carolyn Friedlander's Wildabon pattern, students will choose and arrange their design on a background fabric, then prepare templates, learn hand appliqué, and finish up at home.

Skill level — basic sewing experience

When — Thursday September 28, 12 to 4 pm

Supply list — pattern included (save 10% on class supplies purchased at the store)

  • Background fabric - at least 22" square
  • Choice of fabric for appliqué shapes
  • Glue stick or Roxanne's glue
  • Thread for appliqueing - silk thread or other choice, such as Aurifil 50 wt, in colours to match appliqué fabrics
  • Appliqué needles
  • Appliqué pins
  • Fine, sharp scissors
  • Marking pen or pencil
  • Freezer paper
  • Thimble - if you use for hand stitching

About the Instructors — Colleen has always loved the creative arts - sewing, quilting, knitting/crocheting, water colour painting, cooking/baking and many others. She is a Registered Nurse and former quilt shop owner. Now semi-retired as a Diabetes Educator, she is foremost a Nana to her grandchildren, but still finds time to spend in her sewing room, volunteer with seniors, curl in the winter and grabs the chance to travel whenever and wherever the opportunity arises!
