Job Title: Retail Associate - Passionate About Patchwork
Job Location: 2477 Huntley Rd, Stittsville ON
Job Type: Part-Time
Hours: 2-3 weekdays (10 AM - 4 PM) &
on average 2 Saturdays per month (9 AM - 2 PM)

Job Description:

We are seeking a cheerful and enthusiastic Retail Associate who shares our passion for sewing, quilting, and exploring the world of colors and fabrics. As a key member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the heart of fabric retail, working hands-on with our beautiful stock, assisting our lovely customers, and bringing a touch of creativity and joy to their shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Interaction: Greet customers warmly and assist them in finding the perfect fabrics and supplies for their projects. Share your passion and knowledge about sewing and quilting to inspire and help them with their selections.
  • Fabric Cutting & Preparation: Accurately measure, cut, and prepare fabrics according to customer requirements. Handle fabrics with care and precision, ensuring a high-quality preparation for their projects.
  • Stock Management: Receive, sort, and organize new stock deliveries. Maintain the presentation of the store by restocking inventory, organizing displays, and ensuring the shop is inviting and well-organized.
  • Online Order Fulfillment: Package and mail online orders with attention to detail, ensuring customers receive their fabrics and goods in perfect condition, adding a personal touch to each order to enhance the customer experience.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the team to achieve store objectives, participate in store meetings, and contribute to a positive and creative work environment.

Requirements:

  • A cheerful disposition and a genuine love for working with people.
  • A passion for sewing, quilting, and a keen eye for color and design.
  • Previous experience in retail or customer service is beneficial but not required.
  • Ability to work the specified hours, including 2-3 weekdays and on average 2 Saturdays per month.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle stock, including lifting and moving inventory.

Hours: Up to 3 weekends per month (Saturday and Sunday as per store hours)

Job Description:

We are looking for a dedicated Weekend Retail Staffer who is passionate about fabrics, sewing, and helping others explore their creative talents. This role is perfect for someone who may have weekday commitments but is eager to engage with a community of like-minded individuals on weekends. In addition to general retail duties, this role involves supporting our classroom activities, assisting teachers, and ensuring a positive learning experience for our participants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional service by welcoming customers, assisting them with product selections, and answering any questions about sewing techniques and materials.
  • Classroom Support: Assist teachers in setting up the classroom for workshops, help participants with their sewing projects, and ensure the classroom environment is organized and conducive to learning.
  • Sales and Promotions: Engage with customers about upcoming classes, promotions, and new products, encouraging participation and interest in store offerings.
  • Inventory and Stock Management: Assist with stock checks, inventory management, and ensure the store is well-organized and products are beautifully displayed.
  • Order Fulfillment: Help package and prepare products for customers attending workshops or purchasing supplies, ensuring accuracy and a personal touch in every order.

Requirements:

  • A passion for sewing and a desire to share that passion with others.
  • Prior experience in sewing, either as a hobby or professionally, is required. Experience in teaching or supporting sewing classes is a plus.
  • Available to work up to 3 weekends per month.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with both customers and fellow staff members.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in supporting classroom activities and store operations.

Hours: 4-5 days per week, including 1-2 Saturdays per month

Job Description:

We are seeking an energetic and motivated Summer Student Retail Specialist who is passionate about fabrics and eager to learn about the retail aspect of our craft. This role is designed for a student interested in gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic retail environment, working closely with customers and our range of beautiful fabrics. It's an excellent opportunity for someone looking to enhance their customer service skills and deepen their knowledge of sewing and fabric selection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service: Engage with and assist customers, providing advice on fabric selections, sewing tips, and project ideas. Create a welcoming atmosphere that encourages customers to explore their creativity.
  • Sales Support: Process sales transactions, handle cash and card payments, and promote store promotions and loyalty programs to customers.
  • Stock Management: Assist in receiving, sorting, and organizing new stock. Keep the sales floor tidy and restocked, ensuring products are attractively displayed.
  • Workshop Assistance: Support the setup and coordination of in-store workshops and events, providing an extra hand to teachers and participants when necessary.
  • General Retail Duties: Contribute to the daily operations of the store, including cleaning, organizing, and other tasks as needed to ensure a smooth and efficient customer experience.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a high school or college program with an interest in textiles, fashion, business, or a related field.
  • Available to work 4-5 days a week, including 1-2 Saturdays per month, from May (or earlier) until the end of August.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine enthusiasm for working with the public.
  • A keen interest in sewing, quilting, or crafting, with a desire to learn more about fabric retail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • No previous retail experience required, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are essential.
