Better Binding Techniques

Please bring your sewing machine to class - we want you to learn on your machine

Thursday October 23rd
6:00-8;30

Take the mystery out of quilt bindings and leave with polished, repeatable results. In this hands-on evening class, we’ll walk through multiple ways to attach binding—by machine and by hand—with demos on PFAFF machines so you can see how features like IDT™ (Integrated Dual Feed) and specialty feet make tricky steps easier. Bring any brand of machine if you like—the techniques are universal and we’ll offer brand-agnostic tips throughout.

You’ll learn to

  • Choose the right binding type for the project (straight-grain vs bias; single vs double-fold; when to use each).

  • Cut, join, and press binding for crisp, consistent width.

  • Master beautiful corners and invisible joins at the finish.

  • Do a clean hand finish (ladder stitch) or a durable all-machine finish.

  • Troubleshoot common issues: wavy edges, rounded corners, rippling, and show-through.

Machine binding methods we’ll cover

  • Walking-foot/IDT™ top-stitch (front or back attach).

  • Stitch-in-the-ditch finish.

  • Decorative/utility stitches for secure, pretty edges.

  • Flanged binding (two-color pop) and when to use it.

This class is tailored to PFAFF 600 and 700 series owners and will teach you practical skills to get more value and creative results from your machine, but is still highly relevant to all sewing machine owners and sewist.

If you want to sew with more precision, versatility, and style, this is a class you don’t want to miss!
