Dresden Christmas Tree — PDF Pattern

A scrappy Christmas tree made entirely of pointed Dresden blades! Four Dresden fans stack like shingles — 3, 5, 7 and 9 blades — to make the tree, topped with a gold star and finished with fabric-circle or button ornaments. Every blade is cut with an 18° Dresden ruler (or the full-size template included in the pattern), and one 5" square makes two blades.

Three projects, one pattern:

  • Wall Hanging — 14" × 19"
  • Table Runner — 18" × 48", three trees in a row
  • Quilt Block — 12" finished, a companion to the Dresden Santa block

Skill level: Confident beginner. The pattern has step-by-step instructions with colour diagrams at every stage, cutting charts for all three versions, and full-size templates on the last page — print them at 100% and check the 1" test square before you cut.

You will need: an 18° Dresden ruler (or use the included template), assorted green fabrics — 5" squares, charm squares or fat eighths — plus background, backing, batting and binding. Full fabric requirements for every version are in the second photo. The wall hanging starts with just twelve 5" squares of green, so a charm pack is perfect.

Digital download: This listing is for a PDF pattern (10 pages) — no physical pattern will be mailed. Print the instructions at home and start sewing today.
