Originating from the Siddi community in India, the Kawandi technique is a meditative, hand-sewn quilting method that starts at the outer edge and works inward — a refreshing change of pace from machine quilting and a beautiful way to connect with fabric, history, and each other.

🌿 What’s Included:

  • All Supplies Provided: We’ve got everything ready for you — gorgeous fabric scraps, needles, thread, backing — just bring your hands and a readiness to stitch.

  • Guided Instruction: You’ll learn this tactile, mindful technique step-by-step, creating your own Kawandi-style placemat that’s rich with character.

  • Perfect for All Levels: No prior sewing experience needed! Kawandi is intuitive, forgiving, and deeply satisfying.

🎶 Extend the Experience:

After class, you're warmly invited to stay and sew in the tent, surrounded by the gentle hum of community and live music by Joe McDonald. It’s hand sewing at its most delightful — under the open air, with kindred spirits, and a soundtrack to stitch by.

✨ Whether you're looking to try something new, slow down with handwork, or just spend a joyful afternoon in good company, this class is for you.

🎟 Reserve your spot today — let your hands make something beautiful and your heart soak up the music.
